Cleaning. Keep upholstery clean by vacuuming regularly, using the brush or fabric attachment of the vacuum. Clean and condition wood frame parts with furniture polish, following the manufacturer`s instructions. Soiled upholstery should be washed or professionally dry-cleaned, as its care label directs.
If the upholstery is old or there is no care label, test the cleaner on an inconspicious part of the upholstery before you clean the entire piece of furniture. Remove stain completely.
Aerosol foam upholstery cleaners are safe for most types of upholstery; read the label for specific recommendations. Do not use aerosol cleaner on velvet or silk. To apply an aerosol cleaner, shake the can thouroughly and spray foam in the wood of the frame; if you do accidentally get foam on theĀ wood, wipe it off immediately.
Rub the foam in gently with a clean damp sponge, rinsing the sponge and squeezing it out as soon as it starts to look dirty. Let the upholstery dry completely, as directed by the cleaner`s manufacturer; them vacuum thoroughly and polish wood frame parts.
